The Fable of Zelda: Fine art & Artifacts [a] is an art collection book about Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda video game series. It is published in English by Dark Horse Comics out of a partnership with Nintendo and is the second book of an official series called the "Goddess Trilogy" that began with the publication of Hyrule Historia and was completed with the publication of The Legend of Zelda Encyclopedia. Information technology was released on 26 February 2022 to celebrate the 30th ceremony of The Legend of Zelda series. The book provides a collection of illustrations created in the offset xxx years of The Legend of Zelda video games. Two editions were published including a standard edition with a red cover and a purple limited edition that depicts the Principal Sword on its comprehend.

The volume is divided into 3 main sections. The outset portion is the master illustrations section, which presents major artwork used for diverse Zelda games, such every bit comprehend fine art. The standard edition was published with a red cover, while the express edition features a purple encompass, a design of the Lost Woods and gilded pages. The limited edition was designed to requite the reader the impression of unsheathing the Principal Sword by featuring a plastic slipcase that depicts the Master Sword scabbard, which when removed, reveals a 3D embossed image of the Primary Sword on the volume's cover.[nine] Only ten,000 copies of the limited edition were printed for publication.[10]

Sales [edit]

Publishers Weekly reported that Art & Artifacts ranked at the pinnacle position in the category of adult nonfiction sales for the week catastrophe 26 February 2017, having sold most 29,000 copies upon release.[eleven] In the week of half-dozen March 2017, it topped the bestseller list, while the limited edition ranked in 20th position in hardcover nonfiction.[12]

Reception [edit]

Susana Polo writing for Polygon described the book as, "a truly cute thing".[2] Thomas Whitehead of Nintendo Life described the limited edition as "gorgeous" but commented, "It looks rather impressive though the core content is the same as the standard edition."[13] Seth G. Macy writing for IGN included the book on a list of, "fifteen great books about video games", describing information technology as, "one of my all-fourth dimension favorites".[14] Jeremy Parish for USgamer opined that, "its illustrated spreads certainly look worth the asking toll for serious fans of the serial and its history."[fifteen]
